Sean Ryan Cooley. More inspiration for sketchbook 4 design.
Promise, and layout of sketchbook 3, that I sent as an outline to be lazer cut into mdf. Originally when I took the outline to get it cut I had forgotten to put the lines into the letters A, O, E & J  so the middle was detached and it was difficult to make out what the letter was. I had to re-design the text and have the piece re-cut.
Martin carri. Uses typography to create designs. I’m using him as inspiration for sketchbook 3, which i’ve identified a consumer to be a designer, hence why I am looking into the composition of the typography.
Project 2: Promising Type

All students are required to produce a series of designs for the front and back covers of the four provided types of sketch-books. You are to use text and no images and the design must reflect a promise that sketchbook if offering to a consumer you have identified.

This is one of my experimentation’s with my icon concept. I took primary photographs of icons i had associated with Little Red Cap, I then cut them into circles and layered them, inspired by the work of Stephanie Dotson. I wanted the colour scheme to be greytones to show the dark side of the tale, with red as the only colour.
Stephanie Dotson Dotson’s work looks as though it could be small scale collages, but in fact they are large scale installation pieces. I love the scale ability of her work and how it’s looks as good photographed and printed on paper in a book, as it would if seen installed. I am interested in particular in the technique of layering and the use of colours in the pieces. She has designed using only a few colours and carefully positioned the colours to emphasise and compliment each other.

I have chosen to look at ‘Little Red Cap’ as the fairy tale.

I have chosen 4 main concepts which i will develop, Identity, Colours, Icons, Entrapment.
